Christmas illustration for Lush

I am super excited to announce that Lush have just released their Christmas Delights Gift Tin for which I did the illustration this year! It was such a great commission to work on and it was a delight to work with the Lush design team too, even though I had to try to get into Christmas spirit in the middle of the summer!

I will be selling some Christmas cards again this year, and they will be on sale on my Etsy shop later this month.

The song conjured up memories of carefree days from my childhood, little wooden boats kids used to make from bark and sticks and leaves, and just happy wildness in general and I tried to capture it by using lots of colour.

trial and error

So, I thought, screen printing at home can’t be that difficult, right? I’ve done it at uni a hundred times, it was fun, easy and exciting.

So I freehand painted my bear onto the screen…looks good at this point!

Could barely wait til it dried… Et Voila!

…Don’t know what happened.

Ok I do know what happened, I moved the screen by accident…easy, huh? Well I tried again, but by this time I realised I hadn’t used enough of the screen blocking paint and the colour seeped through places it wasn’t supposed to.

Oh well, practise makes perfect…I’ll keep you posted : D

Hello! I am back from my travels around Europe and full of inspiration for new work – can’t wait to move to a new flat and set up an illustration station for myself! Here’s a little taster of what I have been up to… continuing on the fairytale theme!

fierce creatures

I was asked to create storybook-like album art for a new California based band called Fierce Creatures. I used inks and watercolour for the creatures and trees, handwritten text on covers and insides and Photoshop to bring it all together. Their quirky & beautiful debut album I mostri feroci will be released soon!

I designed the band logo as well, and here they’ve used it to make badges. Can’t wait to get my hands on these and the ep!

flowery designs

I drew these calla lilies for a wedding invitation. The bride wanted a really simple illustration with two callas, and it’s almost completely done in Photoshop apart from a hand drawn sketch that I scanned in.

I love doing pattern designs and since I haven’t really done any in ages I attempted to make some experimental pattern designs using watercolour sketches of plants…

…and other ones using ink and flat colour added in Photoshop. I think I spent hours and hours just tweaking the colours and trying out different combinations – love it!
